Seven Ways to Harvest the Sun

Jump to any solution below for how it works and where it fits.

Rooftop on-grid solar panel installation

Rooftop On-Grid Solar Solutions

Rooftop Solar Photovoltaics a suitable strategy for distributed generation of electricity while ensuring sustainability. Sun is the ultimate source of energy. Rooftop solar power plants harvest this inexhaustible energy by deploying solar modules on the rooftop. When the photons–energy from sunlight–hits the rooftop solar panel, the solar panel converts the photons to electrons of direct current (DC) electricity. Rooftop solar panels also come with Grid tied inverters that convert direct current electricity into alternating current (AC). This AC energy is used in the consumer end for captive usage and if any excess energy generated can be exported to the grid by the agreement with utility called as Solar Net meter.

Advantages

  • Reduce electricity bills up to 100 percent
  • Sells the excess energy to the electricity board and enjoy the credits
  • Avails benefits on income tax
  • Avail easy EMI facility
  • Less investment and payback within 4–5 years
  • Very less maintenance
Rooftop off-grid solar installation on a commercial building

Rooftop Off-Grid Solution

Transun provides rooftop off-grid solar solutions to customers with frequent power outages. This system ensures uninterrupted power supply to customers 24/7. We design rooftop off-grid solar power solutions based on customer energy demand. These systems will help customers to meet their energy demands even at extreme natural calamity situations like cyclones and floods. Our carefully designed MPPT solar inverter along with solar battery harvest more solar energy than any other system. Our off-grid system comes with the option of connecting the grid power whenever required.

Key Highlights

  • Uninterrupted power supply, 24/7
  • Sized to each customer's actual energy demand
  • Built to hold up during cyclones, floods and other calamities
  • MPPT inverter with solar battery for maximum harvest
  • Optional grid connection whenever required
Large-scale solar utility farm with rows of photovoltaic panels

Solar Utility Power Plants or Solar Farms

Solar Utility Power plants or Solar Farms are large scale solar installations where photovoltaic modules are used to harvest the sun's power. They operate as power plants, just like a natural gas power plant or other sources of energy generation that have generated electricity. A solar farm is a photovoltaic power station, typically a large decentralized solar array supplying electricity to the power grid. The majority of these massive arrays are owned by utilities and private developers as assets developed to supply power to utility. These farms can be a good investment option for investors who are looking for returns within five years with income tax benefits.

Solar-powered water pump connected to a photovoltaic array

Solar Pumps

Solar water pumps are often used in remote areas where the cost of running traditional AC-powered water pumping is cost-prohibitive, or you just want to provide water to an off-grid home. Solar water pumping systems are also used to pump water for livestock and crop irrigation in remote locations. Our solar pump drives with inbuilt MPPT deliver maximum power from the sun to both submersible and surface water pumps. Transun solar power pumps support various applications including field irrigation or supplying potable water for your communities, while drawing water from underground or multiple water sources as per requirement.

Solar tree structure with panels arranged like tree canopies

Solar Tree

A solar tree is an energy generator with a visual appearance similar to a tree, with the solar panels serving as its leaves. The solar tree has several advantages as it offers more than just energy output from its panels. Like a real tree, solar trees can offer shade, making them ideal for integration into an open park or property. They also solve space problems and can have customizable options to add features in the shade below the panels, such as attached seating or a table.

Applications of Solar Tree

  • Solar Trees for irrigation pumps
  • Solar Trees as EV charging stations
  • Solar tree for laptop and mobile charging stations
  • Solar trees for garden lighting

Building Integrated Photovoltaics

The concept of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) refers to the integration of solar technology into the architectural appearance of the building. These systems add the aesthetic value of the building apart from generating the energy needed for the building. BIPV is extremely versatile: it can be applied to curved surfaces; they can be custom-made; they can be different colours or transparent so that they can be integrated into windows; and BIPV can even be made from flexible material.

Key Highlights

  • Applies to curved and non-standard surfaces
  • Custom-made to match the building's design
  • Available in different colours, or transparent for windows
  • Can be made from flexible material
  • Adds architectural value while generating energy
Wind turbines and solar panel array in a hybrid power plant

Wind Solar Hybrid Power Plants

The wind-solar hybrid power system harvests solar and wind energy with wind turbines installed on telecom towers or freestanding, and a photovoltaic system that harvests power from the sun.

  • This system can altogether assure uninterrupted power supply
  • The wind solar hybrid system can be made as on-grid as well as off-grid
  • The intermittent nature of solar and wind power can be effectively mitigated — on-site battery storage ensures power is available when the sun isn't shining or the wind isn't blowing
  • Expert system design and dimensioning, with consideration of local sunlight and/or wind patterns, maximizes energy capture through a broad range of common conditions

The rooftop as well as ground-mounted wind solar hybrid solution can be provided.
